An email I saw that I think is noteworthy.....

In light of Obama’s decisive victory, please do not mourn for the Republicans, or fear for your rights. We are merely experiencing what all democracies throughout history have witnessed – the Cycle of Democracy. Read the excerpt that my pastor shared on Sunday.



"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over a [lousy] fiscal responsibility, always followed by a dictatorship. The average of the world's great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence: From (1) bondage to spiritual faith; from (2) spiritual faith to great courage; from (3) courage to liberty; from (4) liberty to abundance; from (5) abundance to selfishness; from (6) selfishness to complacency; from (7) complacency to apathy; from (8) apathy to dependency; from (9) dependency back again to bondage."

The loss of the America we now mourn did not happen on November 4, 2008. It started 120 years ago, during the industrial revolution and the subsequent abundance that it created. Where do you think we are in the 9 step cycle? Step 6? Step 7? Step 8? So what is the prescribed cure? Simply put, it’s revival and nothing less. Without courage and spiritual faith, Americans will never find the discipline to give up dependence upon the government and vote themselves less largesse so that our dependence upon God is assured. Complete dependence upon God, in Biblical terms, is simply called holiness. As American is clearly moving in the direction of Step 9 above, the Church will surely become a target of those who prefer dependency upon government over dependency upon God because we threaten the core of their security. We demean their “savior”. What we must offer them is not a political solution, but show them that real liberty and freedom from bondage can only come through faith in Christ. Only through revival, not political movements, are nations reborn.
