Seasons change... (Gotta give politics a little rest!)

I love the change of seasons in Georgia. Growing up in Los Angeles, I didn't realize what I was missing. LA has a year around mild temperature that enables a sense of seasonless activities at any time of the year. The only indication of change in LA is the first sighting of seasonal merchandise at the local Walmart. Going to the beach in December? No problem. Planning an outdoor wedding? Any time of the year will be fine. But give me Georgia where there is always a new experience around the bend. Christmas is just so much merrier in Georgia if there is a light dusting of snow. Even if we are not blessed with a white Christmas, it is still cold enough to freeze your buns off. Spring makes the brown palette of nature turn green, the air is fragrant with budding flowers, and I love to fire up the grill to make burgers. Thunderstorms rip through the air like violent light shows. The hot and humid temps of summer give you no choice but to flock to the nearest water park. My children sprout gills because they practically live in the water. I love the fall when the heat finally dissipates and I can actually open the window for a refreshing although slightly still humid breeze. The best part of all is when the leaves change color. To me it marks the beginning of another wonderful season. Every year I look at the brilliant colors and wonder how people can say there is no God. I run straight to the store to switch the house air freshener to a spiced apple or pumpkin scent. I start to think about going to the pumpkin patch or a corn maze with my kids. I actually have to switch our clothes to warmer varieties and buy some heavy duty jackets. To me a change of seasons promotes of sense of rebirth, if you will, an awakening of activities to look forward to. So enjoy petting the bunnies at your neighborhood pumpkin patch this year. You won't see them again until next fall!
